DRY DOCK details
My first reduction print!
A reduction print is created by printing an image from the lino, then progressively carving away other elements, and printing from them in different colours.
"Dry Dock" was first printed in blue - but with the white areas cut away.
Then some of the blue was cutaway, and a brown print was made.
More lino was removed and the black image was printed.
Finally the "rust" was added with brush and gouache.
The line block of the dock plant was printed separately by letterpress.
The original photo from which the print was made was taken in Workington, Cumbria some years ago.
