Details of Little Egret
In 2022 I took a stall at the monthly PromArt on the Promenade at Grange-over-Sands in Cumbria.
It takes place on the last Sunday of each month between April and September.
At about 2pm each time I was there a little egret (sometimes two) turned up on the tideline to peck around.
I thought its appearance was quite a rare occurrence,
but on the Silverdale side of the estuary there are apparently several pairs.
For a bird originally from the Mediterranean, I thought this was exciting.
My cheap little camera could barely cope with zooming a quarter mile – but eventually I managed a photograph good enough to turn into a linocut.
The resulting two-colour print has some hand finishing on the reeds.
