Print Fair in Huddersfield

by Peter Grant - 10:47 on 23 October 2024

The first print Fair organised by the West Yorkshire Print Workshop was held on Saturday 19th October 2024 in a disused shop in the centre of Huddersfield.

The whole area surrounding the central Library and Art gallery is being demolished, but 42-44 Princes Alexandra Parade is an exciting Hub of print and textiles. All kinds of workshops for all abilities and all types of printing are held there, but this was their first Print fair.

I took some letterpress printed books and pamphlets and a selection of linoprints.

The day started with torrential rain - but soon the sun came out and hundreds of people appeared for the last few remaining shops - and to visit the Fair!

I sold some poetry, and my only Artists Proof print of "Cockleboat" (more of this later) to a young lady whose grandfather still fishes out of Whitby.

Very many interesting converstions with visitors and exhibitors made it a memorable day.
